After a bad start to the two halves, the German team deservedly admit defeat 3:5 against the Netherlands.

The hosts from the Netherlands were waiting for their chances from the start and the first one came in the 2nd minute. Tom Grambusch tried to pass Erik Kleinlein in the build-up game, Koen Bien got the bat in between, Derck de Vilder grabbed the ball and moved into the circle. Keeper Jean Danneberg was unable to parry his low finish and the Dutch made it 1-0 early on. The first German approach to the goal came after Kleinlein won the ball high, who set up Christopher Schütt and whose shot from a tight angle into the far corner was deflected aside by Maurits Visser. The hosts increasingly took control and had more possession overall in the first quarter. After a great combination, the Dutch forced three penalty corners, of which the German defense around Jakob Brilla was able to defend the first two strongly. However, at the third corner, shooter Jip Janssen was able to overcome Danneberg and make it 2-0 for the Netherlands. A few moments later, Janssen made it 3-0 using the same pattern.

The second quarter saw a somewhat more even game, although the Dutch forward line continued to run very high. However, the next goal fell for Germany through Justus Warweg, who was able to anticipate an attempt to clear the score by the Dutch defense and beautifully scored with a curling shot into the far corner to make it 3-1. However, the opponent managed to combine effortlessly in front of the German goal again and again and captain Thierry Brinkman had another good chance for the Dutch, which Danneberg thwarted with a foot save.
