In mid-summer temperatures, the U16 selection teams of the state hockey associations met to duel at the state cup tournaments in Munich. After the preliminary round games on Saturday, the final duel between Hamburg and West Germany took place on Sunday, as in 2025.

At the Rot-Weiß Munich hockey and lacrosse club it was about the Franz Schmitz Cup. It was supposed to be a close final, with West Germany coming close again after Hamburg had taken a 2-0 lead. In the end, however, the North Germans managed to win over time and took the Franz Schmitz Cup back to Hamburg. But the game for third place between the hockey associations from Baden-Württemberg and Hesse was also extremely close, with the better outcome for the team from Hesse (1-0).

The Munich SC hosted the female selection teams. The two finalists from last year also dominated the games here from the start and made it to the final. Before that there was a shoot-out. In the game for third place between Berlin and Hamburg there was also no winner after regular time. Ultimately, Berlin held its nerve in the shootout and took third place (6:5 n.P.). The final could hardly have been more exciting and was decided in a shoot-out with the score at 1:1 after 40 minutes. With a 3:2 n.P. The team from West Germany prevailed against last year's winners from Bavaria (see photo).
