The German team deservedly won 2-0 after a dominant first appearance in Berlin.
The DANAS almost got off to a cold start with a great chance for Ireland after less than 20 seconds. However, keeper Nathalie Kubalski made a brilliant save and prevented the early deficit. The German team quickly recovered from this shock and immediately took control of the game. In the 6th minute, Lena Micheel had the first good German chance to score after a penalty corner, but Irish keeper Ayeisha McFerran was on her side. The DANAS then kept the pressure high and were able to enter the circle again, but it was no longer compelling in the first section.
Coach Janneke Schopman's team kept up the pressure and recorded seven penalty corners in the second quarter, but there was no success.
