Spain hands Argentina a damaging double setback in London and Berlin

FIH's 24 June roundup put Argentina on the wrong side of two key Pro League results as Spain beat Las Leonas 2-1 in London and then took the men's game 3-2 in Berlin.

The most recent Argentina story in the international feed is also the hardest. On 23 June, both senior teams lost to Spain in matches that carried real weight in the closing Pro League table. The women gave up a 1-0 lead in London and were beaten 2-1, while the men led early in Berlin before Spain turned the game and closed it out 3-2.

What stands out in the FIH report is not collapse but missed control. Las Leonas again had passages where they looked the sharper side before Spain found the equaliser and a late winner. The men also opened with Tomas Domene on the scoresheet, but Spain answered with three goals before Argentina's late reaction proved insufficient. In both games, the Argentine sides remained competitive but paid for letting the initiative swing.

Publishing this piece matters because it reflects the current truth of Argentina's European window. The country remains present in almost every close match, yet the margins are moving against it more often than earlier in the cycle. That is important context heading toward the World Cup, where control in the final quarter will matter as much as talent.
