June 17, 2026 HOCKEY PRO LEAGUE - Red Lions tame Spain and consolidate their first place The Belfius Hockey Arena was again bathed in a summer atmosphere summer atmosphere for the second game of the Red Lions during the Belgian round of the Hockey Pro League. After the big 7-1 victory against Pakistan on Saturday, Shane McLeod's troops took on Spain this time.

Despite a clear dominance throughout the first half, the Belgians collided with a well-organized Spanish defense. The Red Lions scored two penalty corners, but neither Alexander Hendrickx nor Tom Boon managed to open the scoring. Spain, meanwhile, was waiting for the counter-attack, without really causing problems for the Belgian defense. At half time it was still 0-0.

Less than two minutes after the restart, Belgium finally broke the ban. On the penalty corner, Tom Boon delivered a devastating strike with a drag into the top right corner of the Spanish goal: 1-0. However, the Red Lions could not enjoy that lead for long. Forty seconds later, Spain received its first penalty corner of the match. Vincent Vanasch initially saved with the glove, but Marc Vizcaino still netted the rebound: 1-1.
