So far, as in the last four meetings, the DANAS have met Ireland primarily in group games at (inter-)continental tournaments. The two matches at the FIH Pro League in Berlin (June 23rd, 8:30 p.m. & June 26th, 8:30 p.m.) now have a special significance in the fight to stay in the Pro League.
However, the DANAS have been unbeaten against Ireland since 2018 and eight games. Overall, the Germans have only suffered two defeats in direct duels since 2004, with ten wins and four draws overall.
The two teams last met in the group stage of the 2025 European Championship at home in Mönchengladbach and ended in a draw (0-0). The three previous meetings all took place in the group phase of (inter-)continental tournaments. Before the home European Championships in 2025, they also met in the group phase in Mönchengladbach in 2023, where Germany won 5-0 and won the biggest win in this duel. In 2022, DANAS also won 3-0 at the World Cup in Spain and the Netherlands and 4-2 at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
