Italy's Serie A1 enters April with tight groups in both the men's and women's competitions

Every point already matters in a very short regular phase

Italy's Serie A1 enters April with the kind of standings that force close reading of every matchday. The group format leaves very little margin for error, and the official tables already show which teams have seized the first initiative in both the men's and women's sections before the next block of fixtures.

In men's Serie A1, Bondeno lead Girone A with 9 points and HT Bologna top Girone B with 7 after the opening three rounds.

In the women's competition, CUS Pisa lead Girone A with 5 points, while Potenza Picena have opened Girone B with a perfect 6.

The next rounds on 12 and 18 April can still change almost everything, because the gap between leaders and challengers remains narrow in most groups.

That is exactly what makes this stage of the Italian championship appealing: the short group format turns every result into a statement of intent. At this point it is no longer enough to start well; teams have to sustain momentum with almost no room for a bad afternoon.
